Dr Étienne V. Langlois is an epidemiologist specializing in maternal, newborn, and child health, evidence synthesis, knowledge translation, and evidence-informed policymaking. He leads PMNCH’s portfolio on knowledge synthesis to improve outcomes for women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health (WCAH).
He is an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Montreal. Trained in medicine, global health, and epidemiology, he brings to PMNCH his experience in public health interventions and research, with a strong focus on evidence-based interventions and innovations to enhance WCAH and equity. Dr. Langlois has more than 20 years of experience in global health, working across the United Nations, academia, government institutions, private sector, and civil society organizations.
He held key positions, including Scientist for the WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research; Epidemiologist at the Global Health Unit of the University of Montreal’s Hospital Research Centre (Canada); Director, Research and Evidence at the Economic Forum of the Americas; and Lecturer in Epidemiology and Global Health at University College London (UK) and the University of Montreal. He lived and worked in various low- and middle-income countries, an experience that made him a strong advocate for high-quality reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health services.
