Biography

Dr Agbessi Amouzou is a professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where he is director of the Department of International Health’s Global Disease Epidemiology and Control program.

His interests are approaches for measuring and monitoring child mortality and coverage of high impact maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) programs in low and middle-income countries (LMIC), and the evaluation of the effectiveness of large scale MNCH programs in LMIC. He currently leads Countdown’s data & analysis center for effective coverage. His other projects include the development and implementation of a countrywide sample registration system for mortality and cause of death measurement in Mozambique. Previously he led the MNCH coverage data analysis for global and country monitoring at UNICEF Headquarters in New York.
