Javier Ignacio Arina-Iraeta

Biography

Javier has spent 25 years in the UN including 17 with WHO. He began in 1998 in the Office of the Prosecutor and then in the Finance Section of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). In 2001, he served in the Finance Department of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) mission in Afghanistan. He then moved to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva. In 2005 he moved to WHO to join its Tobacco Free Initiative (TFI) department (and quit smoking!). From 2007 to 2012 he worked in the WHO emergencies department (HAC) before moving to Fiji as the Programme Admin Officer.  He returned to Geneva in 2016 to join PMNCH as its Administration and Finance Officer.  Javier is a national of Spain and pursued studies in Business Administration and Law.
