Biography

Mirriam Phiri, a 17-year-old from Lundazi, Zambia, who was raised in the capital, Lusaka, is an influential advocate and the national chairperson of the Children's News Agency. As a member of the Children’s Parliament, she contributed to the passing of the Children’s Code Act and is an immunization champion for UNICEF Zambia. Mirriam actively engages with policymakers and community leaders to enhance children's health and well-being. She serves as a global advisor for Save the Children International and is a member of the SADC Children’s Parliament and the Youth Erudite Podcast. Mirriam has represented Zambia internationally, including at Women Deliver 2023 in Rwanda and the Summit to Democracy in 2022 and 2023. She is a passionate advocate for girls’ health, collaborating with organizations like Generation Alive and Girl Up. Mirriam also participated in the Psychosocial Support Children’s Forum focused on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights in 2021. Trained in media skills, Mirriam hosts programs on Pan African Radio and Metro Radio Stations.
