With over 33 years of experience in the development sector, she has dedicated her career to addressing issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and climate and environmental concerns. Pernille Fenger's impactful contributions include shaping global policies on health and gender, establishing key partnerships in support of UNFPA's mandate, and advocating for human rights-based solutions to development challenges across diverse fields.
Prior to her appointment in Geneva, she held the position of Director at UNFPA’s Nordic Representation Office in Copenhagen and worked at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Asia and multilateral departments.
