AlignMNH is a global initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development. The initiative was founded in 2020 to accelerate progress in improving maternal and newborn health outcomes and prevent stillbirths around the globe. AlignMNH is supported by a Secretariat, managed by Jhpiego, an international NGO focused on transformative health care solutions that save lives. AlignMNH works in partnership with global and country-based organizations, national-level technical working groups, and other MNH-focused initiatives to more rapidly share science, evidence and programmatic experience across the maternal and newborn health community. (Learn more about the AlignMNH Initiative at alignmnh.org)
AlignMNH is guided by a global Steering Committee, comprised of up to 20 global thought leaders. (Learn more about our current Steering Committee.) Steering Committee Members have direct, practical, and in-depth country experience. AlignMNH is currently recruiting new membership to serve on the Steering Committee from May 2023 - May 2025. The new Steering Committee will begin its term immediately following the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference (IMNHC) 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The application process for the 2023-2025 AlignMNH Steering Committee is open, and any interested individuals are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have robust experience in maternal newborn health, particularly as it relates to translating evidence to practice and country-level implementation experience in priority countries. The selection process of new SC Members will take into account the composition of the Steering Committee as a whole, prioritizing a balance of regional representation, gender, technical expertise, and diversity of experience (spanning NGOs, advocacy, government, clinical, research/academia, and others).
The AlignMNH Steering Committee is an incredible opportunity to work alongside passionate MNH leaders from around the globe while defining global priorities to advance maternal newborn health outcomes. As an AlignMNH Steering Committee Member, you would have the opportunity to provide strategic direction across the AlignMNH Initiative, including shaping the IMNHC 2025 and developing the Knowledge Hub. Steering Committee Members will serve a two-year term, during which they will participate in one annual in-person meeting, one large committee meeting, smaller working group meetings, and the IMNHC 2025.
