World Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) Day

This is an important day for children's health advocacy. One of the world's most common diseases - intestinal worms - affects children. In fact, over 800 million children require regular and periodic "deworming" medicines to treat them. In addition, pregnant women and new mothers' health can be affected by NTDs - as intestinal worms cause severe anemia - which can affect birth outcomes and breastfeeding.
