Protecting Women’s and Girls’ Health

23 May 2022 07:00 – 08:00 CET
Hilton Garden Inn, Davos, Switzerland

By World Economic Forum

For all the progress we have made in the last few decades – women’s health around the world is still lagging despite the clear evidence that improving women’s health results in stronger families, more income and more effective, thriving societies. The recent pandemic, geopolitical and humanitarian crises have devastated many lives worldwide and widened economic and social inequalities. These broadening gaps have had a disproportionate impact on women and girls with many exposed to higher risks to their health and welfare. This unprecedented time has opened new opportunities to develop gender-based solutions for the protection of the health and wellbeing of the world’s women and girls.

Through their partnership with the World Economic Forum, the champions of the Forum’s ‘Protecting Women & Girls Health’ Initiative have taken a leadership role in advancing both the conversation and the commitments needed to ensure an equitable, healthy and sustainable future for women and girls.

The Initiative supports and amplifies existing leading efforts, connects ecosystems across sectors, addresses gaps where necessary, and engages leaders and communities through sustained impactful dialogue. The World Economic Forum, the champions and members of the initiative have built a platform that will contribute to:

  • Improving access to reproductive and sexual solutions for vulnerable women and girls
  • Demonstrating the social and economic benefits in investing in women’s health
  • Influencing health and social systems by integrating women and girls’ perspectives including marginalized populationn
  • Amplifying youth engagement in driving impact on women’s and girls’ health
