The Government of France, Last Mile Health, The Community Health Impact Coalition and Women in Global Health co-hosted a [www.genderequalhcw.org]Gender Equal Health and Care Workforce Initiative event during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 13. Global health leaders, policy makers and community health workers joined us to share their experiences and lessons learned as they have worked to design and implement gender-transformative policies. This included: Liberia’s experience revising national policy to recruit and retain female community health workers, Ethiopia’s experience developing optimized training materials for the largely female health extension worker program, and Pakistan’s experience of the Lady Health Worker Programme since its establishment in 1994.
