The overturning of Roe v Wade in the US has renewed debates about equitable access to abortion care around the world. The new WHO abortion guidelines have emphasised the need for abortion care provision not only to be safe, but also to be high quality.

This session will examine some of the recommendations in the WHO abortion guidelines published in March 2022 and the importance of striving to provide effective, efficient, accessible, acceptable, equitable and safe abortion care the same as any other clinical area.
