Leaders of the Present and the Future: What Youth Want - ICFP2022 event

13 November 2022 10:00 – 11:30 CET

Anchored in the principles of meaningful adolescent and youth engagement, this session aims to convene adolescents and youth from around the world to share lived experiences, challenges, perspectives, ambitions, and aspirations about their well-being and empowerment, particularly around Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The discussion will feed into the process of defining the SRHR agenda for the upcoming Global Forum for Adolescents in 2023 and integrating key SRHR priorities in the Agenda for Action for Adolescents. The Agenda for Action for Adolescents builds on the recommendations of the Call to Action for Adolescents, (launched in 2019) demanding increased action and accountability at an unprecedented scale and level of visibility for this population group. The Agenda for Action will be based on digital and in-person crowdsourcing efforts to engage young people and the most vulnerable in expressing what they want most for their own well-being. The demands of more than one million young people will be captured through a PMNCH-led chatbot technology and complementary youth-led consultation exercises. The draft Agenda for Action will be launched in October 2022 as part of a curtain raiser event for the upcoming Forum, drawing on initial inputs from the youth consultations and the evidence informing the Adolescent Well-being Framework. Overall, the session will be instrumental in providing adolescents and youth present at the pre-conference with an opportunity to shape the agenda of the world’s biggest event for young people in 2023.
