The 14th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion will be held from 27-30 November 2022 in Adelaide, Australia. Hosted by the Public Health Association of Australia and Co-Sponsored by the World Health Organization, and other key national and international organisations, Safety 2022 aims to bring together the global injury prevention community to continue the successful world conferences highlighting the important research, work and advocacy in injury prevention and safety promotion.
Note on Safety 2022 - The 14th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion was due to be held in November 2020 in Australia, however due to the global impact of COVID-19, the event was postponed to 2022. To maintain the momentum of the event, a Virtual Pre-Conference Global Injury Prevention Showcase was held from 22-26 March 2021.
Conference Objectives
Injury prevention and safety promotion is a maturing area. It involves many disciplines and interest groups who are active in diverse settings. The objectives of Safety 2022 are as follows:
Facilitating international information sharing and cooperation, and the further development of the science of injury prevention and safety promotion;
Provide evidence on good practices by which national progress in planning and development of injury prevention initiatives can be measured;
Provide greater accessibility and ensure delegate safety by providing face to face and virtual attendance options in response to the COVID-19 pandemic;
Create an environment for knowledge sharing, collaboration and relationship building, creating a ‘global injury prevention and safety promotion community’;
Encourage young researchers and health promotion practitioners to start developing a career in the injury prevention;
Recognise and encourage inter-sectoral liaison and collaboration, including encouraging and embracing diversity and anti-racism learnings;
Develop the knowledge base of injury prevention practice; and
Connecting a growing number of professionals and stakeholders to the WHO policies for violence and injury prevention.
Target Audience
The Conference aims to facilitate global, inclusive and diverse conversations on addressing the gaps in injury prevention and safety promotion. Attendees will include policy makers, government officials, researchers, community and NGO workers, practitioners, academics, funders of prevention programs, safety officers, local council workers, workplace health and safety representatives, health professionals, drug and alcohol workers.
