By The Global Climate and Health Alliance

Building a network to facilitate solidarity, care and collective action between movements from a health and climate justice perspective and welcoming members from all regions for a meaningful youth-led collaboration to influence policies on climate and health.
Today’s youth and young adults are all children of the climate crisis era. Climate change, alongside the collapse of biodiversity, are also the biggest global health threats of the 21st century. Working in silos is not achieving change at the scale and speed that is needed. 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 to 24 inhabit earth — the largest generation of youth in history. There are many youth actors, both individuals and organizations, in the climate and health space, that do not have a platform where they can network, exchange ideas, and address together in partnership the interlinkages of climate, health, social and intergenerational justice.
The Youth Climate & Health Network aims to address this gap by building bridges between youth movements and establishing a dedicated space for the youth climate and health network to grow. Young people are not only victims of climate change. They are also powerful agents for climate action, scaling up their efforts to accelerate the urgent transformations needed to address climate change and protect their futures. GCHA empowers, trains and connects health organizations and health professionals to be trusted messengers in their communities. Those health voices influence public opinion and give decision makers a mandate to further climate action, as well as directly influencing policy. As emerging health professionals, and as young people facing a lifetime grappling with climate impacts, health professional students and youth health leaders bring a unique and powerful voice to the climate discussion.
