Join us to hear from member states how they are leading by example to secure meaningful outcomes at the UN high-level meeting and promoting coherent, integrated and action-oriented pathways in global health.
Purpose: With the upcoming United Nations High-Level Meetings (UN HLMs) on universal health coverage (UHC), tuberculosis (TB), and pandemic prevention preparedness and Response (PPR), taking place during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2023, countries and all stakeholders have a unique opportunity to reinvigorate progress towards delivering health for all and work together coherently.
This side event will provide an opportunity to convene Member States and other stakeholders to show how countries championing UHC can lead by example in securing successful outcomes at the UN HLM on UHC and the other two HLMs by promoting coherent, integrated and action-oriented pathways in global health. It will also provide an opportunity to share the key messages from the multistakeholder hearing based on the summary report of the President of the UN General Assembly.
Objectives
• Inform all stakeholders of the unique opportunity that the 2023 HLMs on health and the UHC HLM in particular provide to accelerate progress towards health for all, and rally around specific, coherent, action-oriented outcomes that are indispensable to keep everyone, everywhere safe and health in calm and in crisis.
• Mobilise engagement from member states for synergizing outcomes across the 3 UN HLMs on health in 2023
• Mobilise ahead of the 2023 UN HLM at the highest political level reaffirmation of support from member states for UHC as the cornerstone to achieving SDG3
• Stimulate Member States to mobilise their heads of state or government to attend the UN HLMs and be ready to make ambitious, actionable commitments, as outlined in the Action Agenda from the UHC Movement – to ensure the right to health becomes a reality for all by 2030, through UHC with primary health care as a foundation
