Global conversations around the health-and–climate nexus often take place at a high level with policy and decision makers. Although these debates are important, the community voice has not found space on the right tables. Seldom do these conversations include the voices of the people that are most affected by these changes – the local communities, and young people. Therefore, this Africa Dialogues webinar sought to elevate the voices that are often missing from the debate and find ways to include a community level approach to solve one of the biggest threats facing humanity.
Some of the messages below stood out as particularly important.
African Solutions for Climate-Health Challenges
All panelists, including Dr Tamer Rabie, Dr Mamsallah Faal-Omisore, William Asiko, Raquel Muigai, and Dr Omnia El Omrani, emphasised the immense potential of African resources and knowledge to address the climate health challenges within the continent. William Asiko stressed that despite resource and financial management challenges, there is hope in tapping into local resources and knowledge to effectively tackle climate-related health issues.
