On the 5-6 September 2023, The Sabin Vaccine Institute is organizing a Convening event in Kuala Lumpur to launch a Global Consortium on Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) . The Sabin Vaccine Institute will lead the Consortium and serve as the Secretariat. It will also act as the host for the Convening.

In alignment with WHO’s Immunization Agenda 2030 and Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative, the Convening will serve as a platform to kickstart a global movement, propelling country progress towards WHO’s 90-70-90 targets and underscoring the need for urgent action towards preventing HPV infections and eliminating cervical cancer as a public health concern.

The Convening will bring together diverse stakeholders from the global to local levels, including Consortium partners; multilateral representatives; civil society; technical representatives; women, adolescent and youth groups; as well as high-level government officials and decision-makers.

Together, the objective for these myriad stakeholders will be to create awareness and generate increased attention to the pressing need for comprehensive prevention, early detection, and treatment strategies for cervical and other HPV-related cancers. The overarching goal of this event is to galvanize an ecosystem for sustained and integrated efforts to prevent HPV infection and eliminate cervical cancer as a public health concern.

PMNCH is excited to support the launch of the Consortium. PMNCH Board Chair, Rt Hon Helen Clark, will be present at the Convening, together with Dr Flavia Bustreo, Chair of the Governance and Ethics Committee.
