On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 8 am EST/16:00 UTC+3, D4I will host the first webinar in a series on localization in monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL). The webinar, co-hosted by the USAID-funded NPI EXPAND project, will highlight the implementation of community score cards to improve primary health care in Ethiopia.
Localizing MERL helps ensure that local actors have the resources and capacity needed for equitable, evidence-informed decision making. Applications of this in MERL activities include local capacity strengthening, using a systems lens, engaging with diverse stakeholders, and implementing other good practices for locally led development. This webinar series will share tools and approaches for effective capacity action planning, monitoring sustainability including local actors’ roles in complex program systems, promoting local voices through social accountability methods, and more.
The webinar will provide an overview of the NPI EXPAND project’s social accountability work in Ethiopia and describe the community scorecard approach to improving primary health care. The webinar will outline the steps involved in the community scorecard approach, highlight an example of its implementation by the local Ethiopian organization ILu Women and Children Integrated Development Association (IWCIDA), describe the outcomes realized through its implementation, and discuss lessons learned.
