The engagement of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) has been a part of the WHO Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) architecture for over 20 years through research partnerships with the UN Special Program on Human Reproduction (HRP) and the IBP Network, a consortium of CSOs working in family planning and sexual and reproductive health (FP/SRH). In March 2023, the IBP Network in partnership with IPPF hosted the first Civil Society Dialogue on SRHR with the WHO Director General. This virtual event brought together over 650 individuals working for various CSOs to identify key priorities in SRH and ways in which WHO can strengthen its work with CSOs working in SRHR. The IBP Network in consultation with CSO partners will conduct a Virtual Consultation to assess gaps, needs, and priorities in social behavior change for family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Objectives of the Virtual Consultation:
- To listen and hear directly from CSOs about SBC priorities for FP/SRHR at global, regional, and country levels
- To identify gaps in SBC programming and areas for future exploration
- To propose concrete actions for WHO in developing supporting documents for Ministries of Health and other stakeholders for SBC investments
