Racism pervades our society's structures, hindering human rights progress inclusive of the right to unrestricted sexual and reproductive healthcare. Our own history in SRHR can be seen to be one of exploitation, but also of advancement for women. At IPPF, we're committed to becoming an authentically anti-racist organization by 2028 under our new Come Togetherstrategy.
But being anti-racist isn't just a destination—it's a continuous journey. In this discussion, let's explore what this means in practice and how we can achieve it. We'll delve into decolonizing our research practices and redistributing power within the federation.
We invite you to join us as we explore how colonialism, imperialism, and other unfair systems have shaped public health policies and practices -- from eugenics to the subordination of Black, Indigenous and women of Colour. We want to make things fairer by looking at how to decolonize public health measures, especially for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Let's work together to make things better for everyone.
Our first webinar features guest speaker David Olusoga, a renowned decolonial scholar, who will share invaluable insights on this transformative journey. Don't miss out-be part of the conversation as we embark on this crucial endeavor together.
