Local Leadership in Global Health: Learning from Success

27 May 2024 18:00 – 19:30 CET
Intercontinental Hotel’s Benelux Room, Geneva, Switzerland

On behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), we are pleased to invite you to a high-level side event at the upcoming seventy-seventh World Health Assembly (WHA).

The event will take place on the 27th of May, from 1800-1930 CEST at the Interontinental Hotel’s Benelux Room in Geneva, Switzerland.

Today’s global development and humanitarian challenges are vast, demanding, and complex – and inherently local, shaped by the unique histories, power dynamics, and other factors specific to each context in which they occur. Momentum in support of locally led development has continued to grow, including through USAID’s own localization initiative, the imminent launch of WHO’s localization strategy, and this year’s WHA resolution for “Social participation for universal health coverage, health and well-being.” Building on these, this USAID side event intends to highlight progress on the localization agenda and locally led “success stories” from the global health and humanitarian spheres, and draw out lessons learned.

Please RSVP here at your earliest convenience. We look forward to your participation.
