The WHO FP Accelerator Plus project supports partners and Ministries of Health (MoH) to scale up and sustain WHO recommended FP evidence-based gender-responsive programmatic practices. As part of this project, the Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research (SRH) is currently developing a guidance document titled ‘Strategies for scaling up Post pregnancy Family Planning’. This document aims to offer strategies for scaling and sustaining the implementation of postpartum and post-abortion family planning, addressing the requests from countries, partners and the scientific community for the WHO to provide guidance on successful strategies for scaling up post pregnancy family planning (PPFP). In collaboration with the SRH Department, the IBP Network is organizing a virtual consultation specifically focused on strategies for scaling-up post pregnancy family planning. The aim of this consultation is to identify existing gaps, needs, enablers and priorities for scaling up PPFP strategies.

Objectives of the virtual public consultation:

  1. To provide a brief overview of the bottle neck analysis on Post pregnancy Family planning
  2. To share an overview of the guidance document on Scaling-up Strategies for Post pregnancy Family Planning
  3. To elicit feedback on gaps and national challenges to be addressed in the guidance document for Strategies to scale up post pregnancy family planning.
