Uniting for the Future to Strengthen Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for All

Summary: 

This CPD58 side event aims to galvanise a strong, united, and resilient SRHR movement to defend the ICPD and ensure hard-won rights and policies are not undermined or reversed. It will engage a dynamic discussion on the future of SRHR, given the current challenges and opportunities, and will include: 

- Scene Setting of the current poly-crisis and the impact on SRHR at global and national levels
- A government panel will discuss how political support for SRHR from like-minded national governments can ensure progressive and pro-choice positions
- A civil society panel will provide recommendations for policy action in line with safeguarding the future of the ICPD Programme of Action as a critical cornerstone to the importance of SRHR for all

Speakers at the side event will address the current impact and future vision of SRHR, including:

- Defending the defenders: Safeguarding the human rights and dignity of SRHR providers on the frontline
- Youth Leadership in SRHR: Empowering young people as leaders and advocates for SRHR at the local, national, and international levels
- Financing for SRHR Services: Exploring barriers to comprehensive access, including stigma, lack of information, and geographic and financial limitations
- Leave No One Behind: Addressing the unique SRHR needs of marginalised and underserved communities, including youth, those living with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and people living in humanitarian settings.
