G7 Leaders’ Summit 2025

15 – 17 June 2025

Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada

The G7 is a critical forum for frank discussions among global leaders, ministers, and policymakers, addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges. With Canada assuming the presidency on 1 January 2025, the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta will focus on advancing shared priorities, including inclusive economic growth, climate action, and the management of rapidly evolving technologies.

The G7: A Catalyst for Global Action

As a platform for global leadership, the G7 has historically driven progress on crosscutting global challenges, from climate change to disarmament and gender equality. Decisions made at the G7 often serve as catalysts for action in broader international fora, shaping trends and addressing emergent crises.

Integrating Women, Children, and Adolescents’ Health (WCAH)

Under Canada’s presidency, the G7 has an opportunity to elevate Women, Children, and Adolescents’ Health (WCAH) as a global priority. Health equity and universal access to care are foundational for achieving sustainable development and addressing pervasive inequalities.

At PMNCH, we strongly advocate for the integration of WCAH into the G7 agenda, recognizing the unique influence this forum has in shaping international health policies and investments.

Key priorities include:

  1. Strengthening maternal and child health systems: Invest in equitable healthcare to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality, aligning with the WHA77 resolution on preventable deaths.
  2. Addressing the health impacts of climate change: Support resilience-building initiatives for women and children in vulnerable settings disproportionately affected by environmental crises.
  3. Advancing digital health solutions: Ensure that rapidly evolving technologies are leveraged to improve access to health services for adolescents and marginalized communities.
  4. Tackling gender inequality in health: Promote policies that address systemic barriers preventing women and girls from accessing quality healthcare, including sexual and reproductive health services.

A Call to Action for G7 Leaders

As hosts, Canada has the unique opportunity to lead G7 members in championing WCAH as central to the global agenda. By aligning health investments with broader G7 priorities, such as climate action and technological innovation, leaders can make tangible progress in improving health outcomes and achieving equity.

We urge G7 leaders to:

  • Commit to increased investments in health systems that prioritize women, children, and adolescents.
  • Foster partnerships that integrate health into climate adaptation and digital transformation strategies.
  • Ensure that marginalized voices, particularly those of women and youth, are represented in decision-making processes.

Building a Healthier, More Inclusive Future

The G7 Leaders’ Summit 2025 represents a critical moment to drive bold, inclusive action for a healthier and more equitable world. By prioritizing WCAH, G7 leaders can address the root causes of inequality, improve health outcomes, and accelerate progress toward global goals.

Let’s ensure that the decisions made at Kananaskis resonate far beyond the summit, creating lasting change for women, children, and adolescents worldwide. Use the hashtag #G7Canada to join the conversation and advocate for a world where health and equity are at the center of global leadership.
