Climate, Crisis, and Care: Midwives Driving the Response

20 April 2026 15:00 – 16:15 CET

By the International Confederation of Midwives

Climate change and humanitarian crises are increasingly disrupting health systems and placing pregnant women, newborns, and communities at greater risk. As these challenges intensify, there is an urgent need to strengthen coordinated, effective responses!

Midwives are at the forefront of this work—trusted, locally rooted providers delivering essential sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and family planning services, often in complex and crisis-affected settings. Yet their role remains under-recognised in many climate and humanitarian strategies.

This webinar will bring together partners, frontline voices, and practical evidence to explore how midwives are driving climate and crisis response in real-world contexts. The session will highlight key achievements and lessons learned, examine the role of midwives in strengthening resilient health systems, and share experiences from midwifery leaders working in climate-affected settings.

Participants can expect expert insights, a frontline panel discussion, interactive elements, and a closing call to action to strengthen collaboration and investment in midwifery leadership.
