Dialogue, insights and leadership for action and accountability:
A special event series on the occasion of the 76th World Health Assembly
Launched in response to COVID-19, the Lives in the Balance summits have grown into an essential venue for learning and collaboration to combat the combined impact of COVID, climate change, and growing crisis on the most vulnerable.
Now in the fifth rendition, for the first time, Lives in the Balance will be staged as an in-person event on the side of the 2023 World Health Assembly, organized by PMNCH. Taking place in Geneva from May 21-24, the event series is focused on what is needed to Protect the Promise for women, children and adolescents in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, conflict, climate change and rising costs of living.
The Lives in the Balance series will consist of three events, each with its own specific focus, while all grounded in the WHA report on Committing to implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016–2030):
Opening Event on Sunday, 21 May will discuss practical actions countries and partners can take to improve the health and rights of women, children and adolescents;
Adolescent Health and SRHR on Monday, 22 May will prioritize adolescent well-being, including comprehensive SRHR programmes and increase momentum for the 1.8 Young People for Change campaign and Global Forum for Adolescents;
Maternal, Newborn and Child Health on Wednesday 24 May will emphasize the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration in ensuring that every mother, baby and child not only survives, but thrives.
Registration is open for both in-person and virtual attendance, with French and Spanish interpretation provided. Don't miss this opportunity to join the conversation and take practical steps towards improving the lives of women, children, and adolescents around the world.
