Liberia is one of 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa that have collaborated with PMNCH through the CAAP initiative.
Responding to the need for accelerated progress for women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health (WCAH), the CAAP initiative in Liberia aims to advance WCAH issues through coordinated and collaborative multi-constituency advocacy and accountability efforts. These multi-constituency efforts aim to contribute to the achievement of national priorities by accelerating the implementation of existing Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Adolescent Well-Being (AWB) commitments while mobilizing new commitments where needed.
The CAAP initiative in Liberia is coordinated by Public Health Initiative Liberia under the leadership of Joyce Kilipko and the stewardship of Ministry of Health. The collaboration with Big Sisters Organization, a youth-led organization, is also key to the initiative.
The advocacy plan is being developed to rally the joint advocacy and accountability efforts of partners around key national priorities. It will build on findings from the scoping and assessment of national commitments coordinated by PHIL and feedback received from discussions with organizations, facilitated through the Health Sector Coordination Committee, working on WCAH issues, including civil society, youth organizations, health care professionals, academia among others.
The CAAP initiative aims to strengthen synergies with other initiatives and platforms such as Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere , Child Survival Action Initiative and the Global Financing Facility of the World Bank. It complements the high-level political advocacy of the Global Leaders Network for Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescents’ Health H.E. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. is a member.
The CAAP initiative’s success depends on the collaborative efforts of partners. We invite you to join our efforts to accelerate progress for women, children, and adolescents in Ethiopia.
