South Africa Collaborative Advocacy Action Plan

South Africa is one of 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa that have collaborated with the PMNCH under the CAAP initiative.

Responding to the need for accelerated progress for women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health (WCAH), the CAAP initiative in South Africa aims to advance women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health (WCAH) issues through coordinated and collaborative multi-sectoral collaborative advocacy and accountability efforts.

These multi-constituency efforts aim to contribute to the achievement of national priorities by accelerating the implementation of existing Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Adolescent Well-Being (AWB) commitments while mobilizing new commitments where needed.

The CAAP initiative in South Africa is coordinated by Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), South Africa, under the leadership of Vishal Brijlal.

The advocacy plan will be developed to rally joint advocacy and accountability efforts of partners around key national priorities. CHAI South Africa is currently developing the scoping and assessment of national commitments report in consultation with organizations working on WCAH issues. Once finalized, the scoping and assessment report will be used to guide the development of the CAAP.

The CAAP initiative aims to strengthen synergies with other initiatives and platforms such as Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere  and Child Survival Action Initiative .Priorities identified by national partners also complement the high-level political advocacy of the Global Leaders Network for Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescent Health (GLN), chaired by H.E. President Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa.

The CAAP initiative’s success depends on the collaborative efforts of partners. We invite you to join our efforts to accelerate progress for women, children, and adolescents in South Africa!
