Tanzania Collaborative Advocacy Action Plan

Tanzania is one of 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa that have collaborated with PMNCH through the CAAP initiative.

Responding to the need for accelerated progress for women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health (WCAH), the CAAP initiative in Tanzania aims to advance WCAH issues through coordinated and collaborative multi-sectoral advocacy and accountability efforts. These multi-constituency efforts aim to contribute to the achievement of national priorities by accelerating the implementation of existing Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and Adolescent Well-Being (AWB) commitments while mobilizing new commitments where needed.

The CAAP initiative in Tanzania is coordinated by Amref Health Africa Tanzania, under the leadership of Josiah Otege, with continuous engagement of CHAI Tanzania. The close collaboration with the National RMNCAH Technical Working Group and the stewardship of the Ministry of Health is critical to the process in Tanzania

The advocacy plan was developed to rally the joint advocacy and accountability efforts of partners around key national priorities and serves as an input to the mid-term health strategy review. It builds on findings from a scoping and assessment of national commitments  and feedback from discussions with organizations working on WCAH issues, including civil society, youth organizations, health care professionals, academia among others.

The CAAP initiative aims to strengthen synergies with other initiatives and platforms such as Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere (EWENE) and Child Survival Action (CSA). Priorities identified by national partners also complement the high-level political advocacy of the Global Leaders Network for Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescent Health (GLN),

The CAAP initiative’s success depends on the collaborative efforts of partners. We invite you to join our efforts to accelerate progress for women, children, and adolescents in Tanzania!
