CALL TO ACTION: Prioritizing What Young People Want for a Sustainable post-2030 Era
Overview
This call to action, launched at the Youth Power Summit (YPS) in New York builds on a decade of foundational efforts, including the "Make Adolescent Well-being a Priority: An Urgent Call to Action." The summit amplified the voices and demands of adolescents and youth, focusing on bridging the gap between policy and implementation of adolescent and youth issues.
The YPS highlighted the need to dismantle systems of oppression affecting women and marginalized communities, while addressing the absence of formal accountability in including adolescent girls in global advocacy on gender equality and girls' rights. The summit championed the leadership of girls and young women in driving sustainable impact, particularly in accessing and completing 12 years of quality education. The discussions also emphasized integrating youth mental well-being, the role of Gen-Z-led protests in reclaiming political voice, and the critical intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and human rights, as well as advocating for AI governance that safeguards the health and well-being of children and youth.
