Case study: Rwanda

Overview

Rwanda’s health sector has made significant progress in recent years, increasing its health spending and improving access to care. Maternal mortality has dropped by 80%, from 1,071 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2000 to 210 in 2014/15. 43.9% of pregnant women receive four or more antenatal care visits, and 91% of births are now attended by a skilled practitioner.
