Key advocacy messages to improve the health of women, children and adolescents - UNGA79

Overview

The 77th World Health Assembly saw the passing of the historic resolution, “Accelerate progress towards reducing maternal, newborn, and child mortality to achieve Sustainable Development Goals 3.1 and 3.2”. Led by Government of Somalia and cosponsored by 51 Members States, the Resolution calls for Member States to accelerate action to tackle the leading causes of maternal and child deaths, improve access to comprehensive health services through stronger primary health care (PHC), and invest in small and sick newborn units.

As the world gathers for the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79) under the theme "Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations”, we call for policy debates and documents to actively prioritize the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents.
