More health for the money to improve women’s and children’s health

Overview
Improving health outcomes for women and children requires effective use of funding to implement proven interventions that span the continuum of care from pre-pregnancy to delivery, the postnatal period, and childhood. The global economic crisis has led to a slowdown in the growth of international development assistance for health, and prompted increased focus on what low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) can do to enhance value for money of existing resources for health (“more health for the money”) and raise additional public and private resources (“more money for health”). This note focuses on how to get more value out of existing resources for RMNCH interventions (see separate note for how to raise more money for RMNCH), recognizing that approaches and tools need to be adapted to each specifi c country context.Number of pages
