Introduction

The Global Consensus Statement on Meaningful Adolescent and Youth Engagement is a joint effort spearheaded by Family Planning 2020 (FP2020), the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP), and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH).
To date, more than 200 organizations have committed to advance meaningful adolescent and youth engagement by endorsing the Global Consensus Statement! This commitment also requires annual reporting on efforts, challenges, and lessons to MAYE through the Accountability System.
The Global Consensus Statement story
The Global Consensus Statement was developed in 2018 through a series of consultations. Approximately 30 youth-led and youth-serving organizations from all over the world provided recommendations and participated in different milestones of its drafting process.
The Global Consensus Statement was launched during the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) in November 2018 and at the PMNCH’s Partners Forum in December 2018.
To assess how endorsing organizations are addressing and enhancing their MAYE practices an Accountability System and a Steering Committee were established. Both will facilitate the reporting process of the Global Consensus Statement.
In June 2020, the first Reporting survey was developed and shared with our community of signatories! We look forward to sharing a summary report with the findings in the coming months!
