As parliamentarians gather for the 149th time during the IPU Assembly, to be held in Geneva, PMNCH, as a permanent observer of the IPU, is at the forefront of advancing the agenda for women's, children's, and adolescents' health and well-being. This time, the focus will be on Harnessing Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future.

PMNCH will make interventions during the 149th session, geared at stimulating parliamentary action to implement the WHA 77 resolution on Accelerating progress towards reducing maternal, newborn and child mortality in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goal targets 3.1 and 3.2, and related IPU resolutions on WCAH and UHC

Additionally, PMNCH, together with HRP and WHO, will host a workshop titled "How Parliaments Can Tip the Balance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights" During which participants will discuss how parliaments can play a critical role in addressing persistent disparities and discrimination in access to SRHR services.

PMNCH and parliamentarians

PMNCH engages with parliamentarians through its Partner Governments constituency, galvanizing political support for critical health issues affecting vulnerable populations. As key influencers, parliamentarians play a vital role in ensuring that women, children, and adolescents live healthy and fulfilling lives. Their efforts in legislation, oversight, budgeting, and representation are essential for driving positive health outcomes.

Parliamentarians have the power to create lasting, systemic change in health policies. PMNCH remains committed to supporting them in this essential work.
