On the occasion of the 76th World Health Assembly, PMNCH has organized The Lives in the Balance series consisting of three events, touching on contemporary issues around women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health and well-being, based on the World Health Assembly report on Committing to Implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016–2030).
This is a key moment to assess the progress made since the Sixty-ninth World Health Assembly, when the resolution WHA69.2 on this commitment was adopted. The resolution requested the Director-General and others to report regularly on progress towards women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health to the World Health Assembly.
The report discussed by the PMNCH partners during Lives in the Balance events contains highlights from a full technical report on progress in and challenges to improving women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health, including those caused by external threats such as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, climate change and conflict.
