PMNCH is pleased to announce that Stephen Omollo, the new CEO of Plan International, is joining the PMNCH Board as NGO constituency Board member.
Following the announcement of the new leadership for the PMNCH NGO constituency, the high-level champion for children’s and adolescents’ rights Stephen Omollo joins María Antonieta Alcalde, Director of Ipas Central America and Mexico, and Aminu Magashi Garba, the Founder and Coordinator of Africa Health Budget Network as the third Board member of the NGO constituency.
Stephen Omollo took up the post of CEO of Plan International on 1 February 2022. He has extensive experience in leadership roles in the humanitarian and development sector, having previously served at senior levels with International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Commonwealth Secretariat and World Vision International.
Stephen is proud to lead Plan International at a time when the importance of its work has never been greater. With deepening levels of inequality around the world and the staggering setback on progress made for girls’ rights, he is committed to doing more, both as a sector and a global community.
“PMNCH very much looks forward to working with Stephen by uniting together to strive for a just world that advances women’s, children’s and adolescents’ rights, health and well-being”, says Helga Fogstad, PMNCH Executive Director, “We’re proud to have him join the PMNCH Board to advocate for change in policy, financing and programming at the global and national levels for WCAH”.
Stephen’s nomination is part of the NGO constituency’s new leadership nomination process which started in July 2021 and was ongoing until December 2021, when his nomination was officially endorsed by the Governance and Ethics Committee and the Executive Committee.
