Economics and financing

Economics and financing

In 2024, the passing of the historic WHA77 Resolution on MNCH asked governments to support and align investments for the implementation of national plans to accelerate progress for SDG 3.1 and 3.2. Prioritizing the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents is not only a moral good, but a sound economic investment, contributing to overall human development and the wider prosperity of our societies.

PMNCH is committed to bringing partners together to emphasize the importance of integrating strong economic and financial evidence into global, regional, and national advocacy efforts. This evidence highlights the important returns of investing in women's, children's, and adolescents' health (WCAH) and well-being, as well as the high cost of inaction on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), and adolescent health and well-being (AHWB).

Understanding the importance of these crucial investments, we must move towards evidence-based solutions, including innovative and intersectoral financing, ensuring alignment with country-level priorities and sustainable, long-term funding for WCAH.
