Events

To position WCAH at the highest political and decision-making forums, and bring lived experiences and topics of relevance for WCA to the forefront, PMNCH delivered five flagship events in 2022 and contributed to 19 other events of strategic relevance. All events provided opportunities to amplify PMNCH’s advocacy asks and influence decisions in line with its three thematic priorities. Through its five flagship events alone, PMNCH engaged more than five billion people in 2022 from over 100 countries

• Lives in the Balance: Delivering Commitments in Humanitarian and Fragile Settings. On the margins of the WHA in May, PMNCH and partners called on stakeholders to deliver on commitments in humanitarian and fragile settings severely affected by the pandemic, climate change, conflicts, coups, and other social and economic fallout.
• Choice, Voice and Autonomy: Women’s political leadership for health in a fragile world. This official side event during the High-level Political Forum in July made the case for women’s leadership to turn the tide and deliver on the SDGs.
• PMNCH Annual Accountability Breakfast. Held during the UNGA in September, this event brought the spotlight to the LAC region and included the launch of the report No time to lose: Health challenges for adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Protect the Promise. Together with partners, PMNCH launched the annual Global Strategy progress report at the World Health Summit in October.
• Global Forum for Adolescents curtain raiser. A video trailer was released and a curtain raiser event was held in October. This was complemented by the launch of the 1.8 Billion Young People for Change campaign.
