Rt Hon. Helen Clark, Board Chair of PMNCH and former Prime Minister of New Zealand
We are halfway through the SDGs, but are now living in a world that is literally and metaphorically burning. The simple truth is that our community and the values we hold close to our hearts are under threat from many directions. As a result, and as always, the health, rights and well-being of women, children and adolescents are at risk, and the frail progress we have made is declining.
PMNCH is an incredibly active platform, rising to the challenges of this extraordinary period. With its vast network of nearly 1400 partners in 192 countries across 10 constituencies, PMNCH has the unique capacity to synthesize relevant evidence on women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health needs down to the community level; activate its partners to implement a multi-pronged and synergistic advocacy approach for commitment mobilization; and hold governments accountable to commitments made. It is now more important than ever that we work collectively to safeguard vulnerable groups and build forward fairer with resilient and gender sensitive health systems.
